Happy Holidays to all my blog followers! I wish you well and send good thoughts your way during this wonderful time of year! I hope that everyone enjoyed their early snow day today and kept warm at home.
We are in our last week of 2010--school year, that is, and we are in transition from Ms. Bartle finishing her internship to me taking back the classroom and preparing for the holiday fun. We had such a wonderful experience with Ms. Bartle and we loved sharing our classroom with her. She was a great addition to our learning community and we will all miss her but wish her the very best! Ms. Bartle will be getting married January 7th so when she comes back to visit we will all have to get used to calling her by a new name!
Our last day of school will be Friday, December 17th. We return on January 3rd and have a few weeks before the end of the second marking period and the first semester. We have a lot to cover in that time so get ready and rested. This week is action-packed and it begins with our special box swap filled with nice notes, poems, and thoughts to a classmate. We will be pulling names on Tuesday. We will be working like busy little elves since we are a little behind. Each student should bring in a small box to decorate--bigger than a band-aide box but smaller than a shoe box. It will be a nice memento for each student filled with heart-felt thoughts that don't cost a penny. And that's the message I would like the kids to have--good thoughts to another mean so much and cost nothing.
We will be celebrating the holidays with a movie and popcorn on Thursday with the other fifth grades. We will be using the afternoon for the movie party. I have requested a donation of $2 per student to cover the costs of the popcorn and the craft we will be doing in the morning. I appreciate your help with this. We typically don't need any parents to help with this so stay tuned for the Valentine's Day party when we do ask for some assistance.
Please check your email for another important update!
Have a wonderful holiday!
