Happy Thanksgiving!

Gobble, gobble! Since we are just days away from Thanksgiving, I will take this opportunity to say "Happy Thanksgiving" to all of my visitors! I hope that you all have a wonderful, relaxing break with your loved ones. I am looking forward to spending time with my family and enjoying each one of them.

Enjoy!

Conference Updates

We have had our first session of fall conferences and they went very well. Thanks to all parents who came to discuss your child's progress so far in fifth grade. It was a pleasure to see you again! We have two more dates scheduled for this week on Monday afternoon and Wednesday evening. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of you at your appointment.

We have finished the DRA's and are working on some further assessments with some of the students. This way we can zero in on the needs they have and address them more systematically. The second marking period began last week and we are starting new units across the curriculum.

Don't forget, we have the day before Thanksgiving off! No school on that Wednesday! We will also be doing the annual Turkey Trot at the Nature Center on the Tuesday before the holiday. Please be sure to send in your $1 donation for the less fortunate--kids recieve a cool key chain and a turkey charm for it. You may even win a turkey!

Looking forward to another great week in Room 104!

Common Assessment

Today we took the two common assessments for fifth graders--math and social studies. We were all pretty happy with the outcomes--especially social studies! There are some of us who need a little extra time with multiplication--AT HOME! Use those flashcards and if you don't have any you can make them or buy them at the dollar store. Practicing the facts will help you in everyday math and the math minutes we do every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Remember, only a half day of school this Friday, Nov. 5th for records day. Report cards will be coming home soon!
